Heritage School Garden
If you visit during the spring, summer, or fall, you’ll get a chance to wander around the grounds, the orchard and the 10,000 square foot heritage garden modeled after a 1907 School Garden.
The 1907 school heritage garden, modeled after the 1907 Rittenhouse School Garden, is located directly on the museum grounds in front of the main museum building. In Ontario, school gardens were developed in 1904. They were part of the MacDonald-Roberston plan for teaching farm skills.
