About this event:

This event occurred on 23 June 2022.

Where do queerness and farming intersect? Through archival research and interviews with contemporary farmers and homesteaders, this talk explores what queer agriculturalists bring to the table. Does an LGBTQ2+ identity lead to novel farming methods? How do LGBTQ2+ people navigate belonging, visibility, self-sufficiency, and community in rural areas? This talk aims to be accessible and informative for members of the queer community as well those who do not identify within this spectrum.

About the Speaker:

Rachel Everett-Fry is a writer and cultural anthropologist from North Grenville. Currently a doctoral researcher with the University of Cambridge, Rachel has also worked as a journalist and as a farm worker. As a member of the LGBTQ2+ community and a settler on unceded Anishinaabe territory, Rachel has a personal commitment to intersectional social justice.
