On March 26th our guest speaker, Lianne van Leyen, shared her incredible collection and research on samplers. Lianne shared some of her 420+ piece antique sampler collection which includes dated examples from 1726 to 1978. She used her samplers to illustrate what they have to teach us about the social history and education of women and girls, the transmission of knowledge and skills in traditional and non-traditional subjects through needlework across time.
