Museum Talks - Countryside Chronicles: The Latimer Diary

Museum Talks - Countryside Chronicles: The Latimer Diary

About this Event:

This event occurred 15 October 2021.

More than a hundred years ago, Millie Latimer lived with her brother, his wife and their three sons on a 100 acre farm north of the village of Metcalfe. What was life like for a single woman in those times? Millie’s life was a full one, but she still made time to keep a diary! She sometimes even shared the diary pages with her young nephews. Now, through the generosity of Millie’s family, this diary and its contents can be shared with the community - learn how this diary came to be shared and transcribed and how its contents can help us understand the history and geography of our area.

Join Sarah Cooper Godoy for this fascinating look into the records of local social history and geography from the early 1900s! Sarah Cooper Godoy is a local resident with an interest in history and words – with old diaries being a perfect mix of the two!
